It’s usually a good sign for business when you don’t have time to blog. What with Convirt3d work and our sister company iCADworx projects we have been absolutely flat out since the end of last summer! So seeing as I’ve just had a week back in Spain in April 2019, it was time to take stock, come up for air and get to the job that has been last on the to do list for months - The Blog. Time to scroll back through the calendar and pick out some of the highlights for the virtual tour side of the business. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I’ll begin . . .
August was perfectly bisected by a family holiday to Spain which meant only time to squeeze in a modified vehicle shoot inside and out and a large job for Hotel Football which involved scanning a variety of guest rooms, M&E spaces and lounges.
For those not in the know, Hotel Football is owned by a group of famous footballers from the famous ‘Class of 92’ namely Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt. The hotel sits proudly beside The ‘Theatre of Dreams’ - Old Trafford and many rooms an suites offer a Stadium view which I have to admit is pretty impressive and that is high praise indeed coming from a rival red from the city the other end of the M62.
The hotel is awash with football references and memorabilia particularly from that golden era and is a modern and well appointed place. At the time of writing it has just been acquired by Marriot as part of their Tribute Portfolio which offers travellers something a bit different.
Instead of the normal single model scan approach the client wanted the tours as separate models for their website which meant one model for each of the room types and one each for the M&E spaces. There are advantages and disadvantages to this approach but either way the tours are great for showing prospective clients around the hotel and allowing them to interact with webpages such as menus, booking forms and relevant photos and social feeds. We even allowed viewers to view their Stadium Suite in 2 different layouts; a Gala Dinner and conference, magically switching between the 2 at the click of a tag.
Possibly my highlight of this job was a unique event space called ‘Heaven’ which is a rooftop 5-a-side pitch commanding impressive views over the city as far as Media City. The icing on the cake has to be the retractable roof which must be a welcome addition for players during summers day kick arounds even if it’s at the expense of the odd lost ball!!
The second half of August was all about R&R even if I did put a cheeky quote into the fantastic Double Tree by Hilton at the Reserve Del Higueron Resort in Spain which at the time of writing may get the go ahead after its 22 million Euro(!) renovation into a Hilton Curio hotel. More about this in April’s blog.
Right time to hop to September, if I can get the DeLorean sparking!!
